Jones & Wagener Bursaries 2023 for South African tertiary and Grade 12 students

Jones & Wagener is pleased to offer a limited number of bursaries for South African BEng / BSc Civil Engineering, Geology, Geochemistry, and Environmental students studying at South African Universities. 


The bursaries will cover a minimum university tuition fee but could also include accommodation and a limited textbook allowance.

Current South African tertiary students and Grade 12 scholars are invited to submit applications.  The award of bursaries will be carried out based on academic merit, financial need, and company-specific considerations. Applicants who have achieved less than 75% in both Maths and Physical Science will not be considered. Jones & Wagener is required to implement Black Economic Empowerment and therefore generally bursaries will be awarded to reflect the population composition of South Africa.

Students studying with Jones & Wagener bursaries may be required to do (six weeks of paid vacation work) at our offices in Rivonia or Centurion during the July and/or December recess. After completion of their studies, bursary students will be required to work for Jones & Wagener for a period equal to the period for which the bursary was held.

The closing date for applications is 31 July.

Suggestions on completing your bursary application form. 

The competition for bursaries is very tough.  Having no prior knowledge of the applicants, Jones & Wagener has to gather all the information about whom to invite for a bursary interview from the application form. Please ensure that the form is completed in full and in legible writing. Academic results play the most important role in our decision; it is,, therefore essential that you provide us with the most recent, complete, and clear academic record.  In completing the other questions, remember that you are “marketing” yourself and your interests and abilities.  It is therefore important to spend some time thinking carefully about what to write.

Please ensure you have the following information available:

• Personal details, incl ID number, id photo, etc.

• Your academic records

• Digital copy of your: ID, CV, and academic records, as well as a recent color photograph as you will be required to upload this information

  Queen Cakes Recipe Ingredients : 3 cups of cake flour  1/2 cup of sugar  1/2 tsp salt  3 tsp baking powder  2 eggs  1 cup milk  1 tsp vanilla essence  1/2 cup of cooking oil  Method : Sift flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and mix (dry ingredients ). In a separate bowl add eggs, cooking oil, milk, and vanilla essence and mix (wet ingredients ). Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Gently mix the mixture.  In your greased pan fill each baking tray cup with the muffin mixture. Bake at 180° for 15 - 20 mins or until golden brown.

  WORS / SAUSAGE STEW RECIPE Ingredients : Cooking oil Wors / Sausage 1 full Onion 1 Beef stock cube 1 Tsp of Rajah curry powder with garlic 1 Tsp of Rajah mild and spicy 1 Tsp of Six gun 2 Grated Tomatoes 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire 2 Tbsp Tomato sauce A half packet of brown onion soup 250ml of Water 2 tsp of sugar  Instruction : Add cooking oil to  your pot. When the oil is heated up, add your wors/sausage to  your pan and fry. Once your wors is fried, remove it from the pot. Put the pot back on your stove without the wors, add your onion,  and  beef stock cube and mix, then add your rajah mild and spicy spice, rajah carry powder with garlic spice,   six gun spice,  and stir. Add your grated tomato , Worcestershire sauce, and tomato sauce, and stir  On the side, in your bowl mix brown onion soup with water and add it to your gravy pot and mix then add 2 tsp sugar and mix  Cut your wors into pieces and put them in the gravy mixture and mix. & Enjoy.
