South African Road Federation (SARF) Bursaries 2024




APPLICATIONS – close on 31 August of each year

The South African Road Federation offers bursaries to suitably qualified individuals wishing to undertake further education or training in disciplines applicable to the road transport sector.

SCOPE

The following categories of study will be considered:

1. ROAD ENGINEERING(CIVIL)

This includes:

Traffic engineering

Transportation planning

Pavement engineering

Bridge engineering

Construction Materials

Storm water.

Environment

Construction management

2. ROAD TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT

3. ROAD TRANSPORT ECONOMICS

4. ROAD SAFETY ENGINEERING

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 Bursaries are awarded for study at an approved South African university, University of Technology or equivalent. Bursaries are awarded to National Diploma students after having passed their first semester (S1) examination and to the Degree students after having passed their first-year examinations

Study at an advanced level is preferred, i.e., M.Sc., M. Tech. or above.  However, applications at undergraduate level may be considered in special circumstances.

Full time study will be given preference but applications for part-time study or distance learning will also be considered.

All applications must be endorsed by the appropriate academic authority at the establishment where the applicant proposes to study.


The value of the bursary will depend upon the needs of the applicant and the decision of the Council of the Federation. However, it is intended to supplement the student’s other finances and will not be sufficient to cover all expenses.  It will be paid directly to the academic institution concerned on the bursar’s behalf.

Applications must satisfy Council to an extent which is reasonable that they will be working within the ambit of the South African road transport industry on completion of their studies.

Everything being equal, preference will be given to employees of members of the South African Road Federation.

South African residents will be given preference however individuals from SADC countries are invited to apply.


Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Grade 11 year end results (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Most recent tertiary results (on institution letterhead)

  Queen Cakes Recipe Ingredients : 3 cups of cake flour  1/2 cup of sugar  1/2 tsp salt  3 tsp baking powder  2 eggs  1 cup milk  1 tsp vanilla essence  1/2 cup of cooking oil  Method : Sift flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and mix (dry ingredients ). In a separate bowl add eggs, cooking oil, milk, and vanilla essence and mix (wet ingredients ). Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Gently mix the mixture.  In your greased pan fill each baking tray cup with the muffin mixture. Bake at 180° for 15 - 20 mins or until golden brown.

  WORS / SAUSAGE STEW RECIPE Ingredients : Cooking oil Wors / Sausage 1 full Onion 1 Beef stock cube 1 Tsp of Rajah curry powder with garlic 1 Tsp of Rajah mild and spicy 1 Tsp of Six gun 2 Grated Tomatoes 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire 2 Tbsp Tomato sauce A half packet of brown onion soup 250ml of Water 2 tsp of sugar  Instruction : Add cooking oil to  your pot. When the oil is heated up, add your wors/sausage to  your pan and fry. Once your wors is fried, remove it from the pot. Put the pot back on your stove without the wors, add your onion,  and  beef stock cube and mix, then add your rajah mild and spicy spice, rajah carry powder with garlic spice,   six gun spice,  and stir. Add your grated tomato , Worcestershire sauce, and tomato sauce, and stir  On the side, in your bowl mix brown onion soup with water and add it to your gravy pot and mix then add 2 tsp sugar and mix  Cut your wors into pieces and put them in the gravy mixture and mix. & Enjoy.
